Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF: 75 years of adding some meaning to your Halloweening®

A Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF collection box sits on a light purple surface next to a pair of painted and decoupaged pumpkins; above the grouping is the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF logo.

Rattling bones. Screeching bats. Wicked witches wearing hats!

Halloween offers kids no end of thrills. Costumes, candy, class parties. Yes, even pranks. But what could be more exciting than helping other kids reach their dreams?

This year, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF marks 75 years of families and communities coming together—little orange box by little orange box—to make the world a better place for children.

You and your family have the power to add some meaning to your Halloweening with Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. Not supernatural powers. Not superhero powers…the power of the little orange box.

That orange box means something to generations of children. It’s a window on a bigger world. It’s a blazing signal that hope and help are coming. It’s a powerful, yet simple way to teach children that the smallest acts of kindness add up to positive impact beyond their wildest imaginations.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF funds deliver save water, nutrition, health care, education and emergency relief to children when and where they need it most. When you and your children participate in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, you become part of a long tradition that has raised nearly $200 million for lifesaving programs around the world…and counting!

Since 2006, UNICEF USA and Hallmark have teamed up to promote Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF—a fun and meaningful way for the global citizens of today and tomorrow to connect all October long. We have greeting cards for all occasion to support UNICEF beyond Halloween, too!

75 years of children helping children

Since the beginning, the iconic Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign has been a family affair. It began in 1950, when one Pennsylvania family, the Allisons, merged their efforts to do some good at Halloween with UNICEF’s work to help children and young people in post-World War II Europe. UNICEF is now on the ground in 190 countries and territories.
